My (again not so current because I am swimming in the deep end of leadership books for my Master’s classes) current literary obsession:
The Glass Castle
By: Jeannette Walls

This book is one of those books that sets off a reading frenzy. Does anyone else experience this phenomenon? This book is so good it will make you go read ten more books, with the hope of finding one just as good. Fortunately, this book, a memoir, has a prequel, Half Broke Horses, to quench that thirst once you finish.

My (not so) current literary obsession:
The Poisonwood Bible
By: Barbara Kingsolver

I have pulled this literary gem off the book shelf because this is probably one of the best books that I have read in the last 10 years. This novel is about a missionary family that moves deep into the heart of Africa. They bring with them only the items that they believe they will need for the short year they believe they will be staying. They have no clue just how hard this journey will be.

It richly touches on so many issues because each chapter is told from the mother’s and her four daughter’s perspectives.

You will not regret reading this book!

Happy reading!
Erin

My current literary obsession: Vinegar Hill
By: A. Manette Ansay

This book zooms in on a woman on a personal struggle of finding her place in her family that has moved back in with her husband’s family after he loses his job. She feels unappreciated, undervalued, and that her life is taking the mundane turn she never expected for herself.

It is a quick read that leaves you thinking long after the book is over.

Happy reading!

My current literary obsession: Gone Girl
By: Gillian Flynn

20120906-064039.jpg

You will not be able to put this mystery/thriller/drama down. I highly suggest allotting some serious uninterrupted time for this– your to do list will be thrown out the window. This is all I am going to say, at the risk of ruining a single moment of this book for you.

Happy Reading (and probably rereading),

Erin

My current literary obsession: The Invisible Wall
By: Harry Bernstein

This book breaks from the traditional war story by zooming in on an English street just before World War I begins. Told from the naive perspective of a young Jewish child, the novel looks at the way in which a war and tragedy can bring people together. In addition to showing how a mill town suffered during this time and how that brought both the Christians and Jewish people living on one street together, it also contains a heart wrenching love story that definitely makes this book a page turner.

This is a great book to cuddle up and read with a good cup of joe.

Happy Reading!
Erin
