Is there anyone else out there treating 60 degree weather like summer?!  These cabin fever babies and their desperate mother are game for any sunshine available.  Lately, we’ve been heading out after we get home from the day and soaking up any sun that is still shining.

But here’s the tricky part.  E is ready to run all over the place as soon as we go out.  Claire would love to join and while she is SO close to walking, sadly isn’t walking and everything is still muddy.  So, standing and/or her Walking Dead crawling isn’t really getting her very far outside.

Plus, when she gets home she is ready for a snack.  And is generally happy to sit and watch her big sis.  So , we get C in her high chair outside and set her up with some snacks and this appeases her until E remembers that there is a park nearby and she’s ready to head that way.
Yesterday, after snack, we headed to the park and Claire experienced her first swing ride!!  You guys!! She loved it!!  The joy that these firsts bring never gets old.

After school snacks have been an important part of our routine and enjoying a little family time while also developing Claire’s fine motor skills.

What are the ways you’ve been spending time as a family now that there are some warmer temps on the horizon?  Do you have an infant in the house learning how to pick up finger foods?
Claire is eating us out of house and home so we are thankful for coupons and affordable products like Gerber while still providing nutrition.  Head here for coupons to save!

Hope you all are enjoying this sunshine before the inevitable spring snows ahead—grrrrr.

Have a great week and a great first day of spring!
Erin

Good morning,  I am so excited to be partnering up again with listings in Columbus to get out and explore Columbus as a family (see our family-friendly day in Grandview here)!  One spot we’ve been dying to check out is Old Hilliard and more specifically, the new splash pad at Hilliard’s Station Park!  So, on Mother’s Day we loaded up and headed out to explore!

First, we stopped by Hilliard Municipal Park to see some duckies and just the pond in general.  It’s a really nice pond area that would be perfect for a picnic this summer!

Just a few blocks away is Hilliard’s Station Park in Old Hilliard…it’s a little stretch of restaurants and shops and the all new splash pad!  We opted to play for a bit (it turned out to be way warmer than we thought!  Lots of kids already in suits playing!!) and then head to dinner.  They have tables around the splash pad so you could grab lunch at Local Catina or coffee at Coffee Connections and sit outside with the kiddos while they come and go playing!

Afterwards, we decided to grab dinner on the patio at Otie’s Tavern!  The evening turned out just perfect!

We will definitely be heading back to Old Hilliard soon!! Such a fun little area!!  And now for the really fun part!  Below is your chance to get out and explore the area a bit with a $25 gift card to Local Cantina (they actually have several locations around Columbus)!!  And if you’re interested in checking out a few other local places Breakfast with Nick has a great Clintonville round-up and It’s a Hero has a post all about Cuyahoga Falls which would be a great little getaway once baby gets here!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Hope you all have a great weekend and have a chance to get out and explore!

Good morning!!  Well, baby girl is officially full term!! We decided to head out to dinner to celebrate at Kona Grill both that baby girl is healthy, but also that this could be our very last dinner out as a party of three!  Crazy!!

We whooped it up and ordered the calamari appetizer which we got for free for signing up for the Konavore program!  For dinner, I got the pad thai and Matt got the swordfish with brussel sprouts and a handcrafted old fashioned.  Matt was obviously the healthy eater of the evening as Eleanor went with grilled cheese, mac and cheese, and fries (Ok, I ordered it–I just wanted all of it).  These dishes were so good and go beyond the traditional sushi menu which was great for me since I can’t have it for three more weeks!  And they have over 40 different sauces that you can mix and match to create your perfect dish!  Gotta love options!

Kona also seriously has the best dining out ambiance with pretty much every option for experience you could imagine with an outdoor patio, indoor bar, sushi bar, and regular table seating.  PLUS, they have a fish tank that at least kept my little entertained!  They also had tons of stuff (markers, wax sticks, etc..) to keep her busy at the table!  Very much appreciated by all.

To find a location near you and get signed up to receive a free appetizer, just head here!

I hope you all have a GREAT weekend and to all the mamas out there–HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!  You are amazing.

Erin

Good morning!  Today I am so excited to be partnering with Nakturnal on behalf of real estate in Columbus, Ohio to share a few family-friendly activities in Grandview!  We absolutely adore Grandview. It has that small town quaintness feel, but with TONS of activities throughout the year for all ages.

IMG_6685
Stauf’s Coffee is the perfect way to start your day.  I feel so fancy walking in, the aroma hitting you even before you walk in.  And then the beverages?  Artwork.
IMG_6693IMG_6676
Grab a donut at the counter at DK Diner (the sour cream donut is my absolute favorite.)  or you can sit and have an amazing brunch on the patio!  The whole atmosphere is super casual:  You can get a donut as an appetizer and they put coffee out for you to sip on while you wait for a table if you decide to stay for a full breakfast!
IMG_6716IMG_6745IMG_6752IMG_6775
Grandview is full of these little touches; so fun for the littles!! This community library is located near Stevenson Elementary!
IMG_6085
Lunch at Sweet Carrot!  They have an amazing indoor and outdoor dining area.  And the food is SO good.
IMG_6118IMG_4767
Stop by Little Green House Play Cafe and let the littles run around while you grab a cup of coffee.  Yes, please!  Eleanor was obsessed with the firetruck!

Our favorite park is Wyman Woods Park.  The ground is squishy which is perfect for those toddler falls!  And then when you are on your way home, make sure you stop by Mama Mimis for a take and bake pizza and a local six pack!  You will feel like a domestic goddess when it comes out of the oven.  Fresh and gourmet and you didn’t have to do a thing.

…and now for a fun giveaway!!  Comment below with what your favorite spot in Grandview or Columbus is and then enter your information into the Rafflecopter to get yourself entered to win a $25 gift card to Staufs Coffee!  Good luck, friends!!

And if you are interested in checking out German Village, my friends over at Wander and Whine shared their favorite spots and are giving away a gift card to Pistacia Vera (remember how little E was on her first trip there?!)!

Hope you all have a fabulous weekend!!
Erin

IMG_4437IMG_4464IMG_4417IMG_4400IMG_4414IMG_4406IMG_4222

Good Morning!!  Happy St.Patrick’s Day and a very happy Friday!!  Today I am so excited to be teaming up with Re-Play Recylced to chat a little bit about toddler eating!  Plus, one of you will have the chance to win a feeding set for your little one at the end of this post!!

Here are some of the tips that have helped to make eating with your little one a little easier!

1. Cute tableware.  This sounds ridiculous, but honestly it gets me excited to prepare meals for E which is NOT my thing.  Any new mom who asks me if a certain splurge is worth it, like a blanket they love or a certain outfit or stuffed animal…my answer is always: if it brightens your day at the mere thought of your baby using it and it is within reason, why not?  Sometimes, when your child is tossing their peas across the room and screaming because they really just want to eat the sticker that they spotted 100 miles away, a brightly colored pink plate might just get you through it.  The great news is that these recycled goodies are actually some of the cutest, but cheapest sets out there!  Bonus!
2. Give utensils at every meal.  Eleanor is already an “I wanna do it by myself” toddler.  If you are finding that your baby/toddler is having a hard time with meals, give them some control where you can.  One way we do this is by letting her feed herself with a utensil even if it means a total mess.
3. Speaking of control, a question I get asked a lot is how we keep Eleanor from tossing her plate.  When she starts to pick up her plate, bowl, etc…we just ask…”all done?”  and start to take it away without worrying about how much she ate or didn’t eat.  If she continues to push it away or doesn’t want any bites we try to give her off of the plate, we remove it and let her be done.  Often times, we will say it and she will immediately point back at the plate and we set it back down.  After a few times of removing it before she was really done, she has learned that when we take it, the meal is over–it becomes less of a game and more a way of her communicating her needs with us.
4. Giving each item of food a part of the plate.  The nice thing about divided plates is that it makes it easy for her to communicate what she wants more of by pointing to the area where the food was.
5. Try to have fun with meals.  There have been many nights where meals have ended in tears for both E  and me because I was afraid she wasn’t eating enough, or she screamed the whole time, etc… and she was frustrated by XYZ.  It is hard when your child won’t eat, no matter how old they are.  It goes against my momstinct to let her go without eating, but sometimes by dinner she just isn’t hungry or she just doesn’t feel good (that’s usually our first sign she’s getting sick!).  We offer a variety of solids and soft foods (sometimes when her teeth hurt she refuses solid foods so if she flat out refuses everything we do try an applesauce or yogurt just to be sure it isn’t the teeth) and then I just try to let the stress go and try to make it fun by making shapes, playing music during the meal, or throwing a lemon on there and watching the expression on her face!
6. Eat together.  E loves when I sit down at her table with her and we practice our “cheers!”  We also try to eat the same thing as her when we can!

All this being said, I am not going to lie and say mealtimes are always easy.  I would love to hear your tips because like all things parenting, it’s always changing and what works one day might need to be adjusted the next.  It’s an adventure for sure!

Also these sippy cups are the stuff of miracles because this is the first one E was able to use with a hard top (it has a skinnier lip)–no more transition cups!  Wahoo!!

And now for the fun part!! Re-Play has offered one of you lucky ducks a feeding set in your color choice for your little one!  All you have to do is fill out the Rafflecopter below!  I will announce the winner next Friday!!  They have also offered all of you an exclusive coupon code for 15% off your order of $20 or more on their site using code: Planning4Paris2017 (Expires 3/24)

You can also find their products at Amazon, Target, and tons of other retailers!
