The first thing I do when I wake up is swish coconut oil. I know. Disgusting. I gagged like the first 15 times I did it, but you get used to it. You swish for 20 minutes and the health benefits are amazing. Read more on oil pulling here.

If you’re anything like me, you’re not ready for full makeup first thing in the morning. Whether we are talking weekday or weekend…I need just a wee bit of time to get going. So before I leave the house (usually around 6 am) or before entering the next room I do these simple things:

1. I always keep my beauty items stored in a to-go bag. I don’t know about you, but I like the snooze button. Why not be prepared by storing your items in this adorable cosmetic bag? You’ll notice I also have travel size versions of everything (I refill from the larger containers) so that I am able to throw everything in this bag easily.

2. I talked more about my elaborate hair routine here. Ha. Mostly, when it comes to my hair…I’m a ‘can I get away with one more day?’ kind of gal. WEN has done wonders for me and this replenishing mist gives your hair an instant lift!

3. This polish. Oh my. It’s like an instant manicure and it dries quick. A quick once-over every few days does the trick!

4. Bobby pins. I always have one in my hair. And they are all over the house. Matt loves it.

5. EOS Lip Balm. Heaven.

6. Simple Revitalizing Eye Roll-on. This thing has a metal ball on it that feels like a million bucks first thing in the morning.

7. I have fairly normal skin–except in the winter and then I feel like my face is literally flaking off–this Kiehl’s ultra facial moisturizer works all times of the year. It’s fabulous.

8. And of course my glasses are never off my face. They are my permanent accessory.

So what are your first thing in the morning beauty essentials? Anything you can’t live without?

Happy Tuesday!
Erin

Over the last week, Nick, Natalie, Tad, and Sarah–Matt and I’s sister–graduated! Nick graduated from the University of Arkansas and starts his first day of work at a golf course in Little Rock today! Natalie graduated from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences! She’s a doctor y’all! She’s headed down to Memphis today to sign on the house AND pick up their new puppy Graham! Tad received his MBA and Sarah graduated from Valparaiso University and is now a registered nurse! My sibs are the smartest. For sure.

Matt was out of town this last weekend for a bachelor party so I had the weekend to myself. I attended a Columbus blogger brunch and met some seriously fabulous bloggers! Feeling inspired by the event, I did some serious blog work over the weekend. The school year is winding down and I signed up for a maymester class (what is wrong with me!?) and obviously wedding plans are in full swing so I thought I would get ahead on some blog work and boy did I! I will be taking over blogging for awhile while Natalie gets her and Tad and now 2 puppies moved and married!

Phew! So there you have it! Big things are happening! So what have you guys been up to?

Happy Monday!
Erin and Natalie

Should I Wash My Hair?

Good morning! Next week, I will be sharing more of what’s in my beauty bag, but I couldn’t wait until next week to share this fabulous print with you!

Anyone who knows me, knows that my hair is a real beast. And that I will do anything to get out of washing it. I recently started using WEN and this really does wonders for my hair. It’s a conditioning cleanser…no more lather! It was weird at first, but it really decreases frizz and it lengthens the amount of time you can go between washes. Win! Dry shampoo is another staple in my hair routine. Whoever invented this and spanx deserve the same award.

One Truffle Pouch/WEN Intensive Hair Treatment/Lemon Drop Brush/Detox Dry Shampoo

Stay tuned next week for more on my beauty routine!

Happy Thursday!
Erin

Mother’s Day

family, love, Mom, mothers day

mom, erin, and nat

We know it’s the day after Mother’s Day but we happen to think our mom is pretty dang fabulous that she deserves an extra day!

Here are the top 5 things we’ve learned from our momma:

1. Never leave the house without lipstick on, preferably a bright shade of red or pink.

2. You have to really dig to find ‘treasures’ at antique malls. We owe all of our antiquing skills to her.

3. There is always something else to look forward to. When you get sad that a certain trip or event is over, there’s always something else to plan and be excited about.

4. Take one day at a time. We heard this a lot when we’d call her crying over failed tests or difficult boys. It’s still the best piece of advice she gives us.

5. Raising three kids and working a full-time job is totally doable. And you can do it with style and grace.

Mom, we love you more than words can describe! We’re so lucky to have you as our mom.

Nennie and Erin
