Oops! It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these!! So, a quick little catch up: over the Fourth of July weekend, Matt and I headed to Indy to see some of Matt’s family! We also got to see our friends and their sweet baby. I love that all of them are so much closer!!

Speaking of which, Matt’s Mom and Stepdad came down for a little surprise trip. I didn’t have to work, so it was a perfect day for a little luncheon and some shopping!!

My parents came in town just a few days after Matt’s parents headed out….we had a fun filled weekend bopping around Columbus! We then headed to Indiana to spend a little time with Grandma!

Annnnnd….this weekend I am headed to a little girls weekend with some of my gal pals from Richmond!!

Lots happening!! What are you all up to??

Have a great Thursday, friends!
Erin

The Blog and I…

blog, Life, sisters

Hello, dear readers!

Oh goodness… where do I even begin? To say it’s been a busy few months would be a total understatement. In the past few months, I’ve:

Married my best friend.

Changed my last name.

Moved from Kansas City to Memphis.

Honeymooned in Jamaica.

Bought a house.

Graduated from medical school.

Started a new job.

Put off writing a bajillion thank you notes. (So sorry, everyone!)

Last but certainly not least- Adopted a 7 month old puppy, Graham.

nat and tad twirling

Helllooooooo, life changes! Ummmm, you came on kinda quickly!

I’m loving married life, I’m loving being a doctor, I’m loving our two dogs (even though they don’t get along), and I’m loving our new house.

With life changes like this come some sadness as well. I’m missing my family and I’m missing my friends. I’m missing Kansas City. I’m missing the normalcy that was my life BEFORE May hit. I’m missing my free time, and I’m missing the blog.

I would give anything to go back and re-live every.single.second of the wedding weekend. And I mean anything. It was perfect, and beautiful, and amazing. The love we shared that weekend with our family and friends will never be forgotten. I get teary-eyed every time I think of what was the most perfect weekend of my entire life.

At the same time, I’ve never enjoyed anything as much as I’m enjoying getting up every.single.day. at 4:00am to go to the hospital and see patients. Nothing beats looking up at the huge hospital at 5:00am as you’re walking in, waiting to see how your patients did overnight and the anticipation of what’s to come the rest of the day.

As sappy as this may all sound, you can probably guess I’ve been a roller coaster of emotions the past few months.

I’ve thought a lot about this blog lately and the future I have in it. My sister is so dang amazing, and I am so grateful for everything she does. She works so incredibly hard and still manages to entice others with her words and pretty pictures on this blog. I envy her creativity and her passion for all things beautiful.

I feel as though I’ve been rambling for the past 5 minutes so I’ll get to the nitty gritty:

This blog and I might be at a standstill. I’m tearing up as I write this because it’s what I share with my sister, my friends, and my family. I love this niche we’ve created in the great internet abyss. I love sharing what we love… all things pretty and happy. Right now, my life is pretty dang crazy and I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep tuning in to this blog as much as I’d like.

Long story short- I’ll be coming and going. I change rotations every month so my 14-hour days and 4 days off this month could change to 8-hour days and weekends off next month. Every month will be something different for the next four years. I guess this whole ‘life changing’ thing won’t be stopping anytime soon.

Erin will be picking up where I’ve left off like she’s been doing for a while now. She’s super woman! I so envy everything about her and am so dang lucky to call her my sister.

I’ll miss the days I won’t be here sharing my thoughts or pictures, but it’s not the end of Natalie and this ole’ blog here. I’ll be back… may not be tomorrow, or the next day, or the next week… but I’ll be back.

Erin and nat at the wedding

Love and laughter, always,

Nat

Amongst all the bills lately, a little snailmail makes me smile!!

Last Saturday night, Matt and I walked 9 holes. I don’t play, but I love watching Matt play. I happen to think he is quite good!

My new Sunday tradition. I’ve just got to figure out the sunscreen part. Seriously. I have weird lines everywhere. Is there a trick I don’t know about for perfect application?

My work schedule has been a little lighter this week. I got caught up on house chores, letters to friends, and we FINALLY got 3 huge dead ash trees taken down. No more laying in bed praying they don’t fall on our house during a storm! Wahoo!!

This weekend Matt and I are heading to Indy for a little family 4th of July get together! I have to be in a bathing suit….which somehow I have avoided in public since our honeymoon 3 years ago….so about these funky lines….thoughts?

What are you all up to? I hope you all have a very happy long weekend and 4th of July holiday!

Erin

Good morning! Last weekend, Matt and I had a quiet weekend at home. On Friday night, we made some delicious black bean burgers. We kinda just made up a recipe. Does anyone have any secrets for getting them to stick together better? We also sampled Matt’s latest brew, a delicious IPA. Gonna need to make another batch of that soon!

20140626-064631-24391297.jpg

I spent most of the weekend inside getting caught up on all sorts of things. Cleaning, laundry, bills while Matt worked outside mulching and such!

20140626-064826-24506399.jpg

I did pop outside for a bit to do some reading and catch some rays…Sunday was gorgeous!!

20140626-064936-24576570.jpg

This week has been a little crazy as I started working at a daycare. So, we are back to the crazy schedules. However, I definitely do best when I’m busy. I am SO glad next week is a four day week though!

Hope you are all doing well and having a very happy Thursday!!
Erin

Ps. If you didn’t catch it yesterday, Natalie and Tad’s wedding pictures are here!!

Good morning!! So, yesterday was hard. I can’t believe it’s already time to say goodbye. It feels like just yesterday I was standing on the curb waiting to get them off the bus thinking, what have I gotten myself into!? To yesterday, running after the bus to give them one last hug! They are forever my students.

And, I’m not sure if any of you noticed, but it is JUNE. Holy cow. I think there’s a wedding this weekend? Matt and I took on a lot of outdoor projects in May (including redoing the deck! Bring on the summer BBQs!) and I have some pretty sweet tan/burn lines that need fixing before Saturday. Thoughts?

Speaking of weddings, I leave tomorrow for KC and I literally have a mountain of a to do list to accomplish before my 6 am flight. And then it’s wedding, wedding, wedding! Let’s get these two hitched! In light of that, Natalie and I will be taking a little break from regularly scheduled posts. Be sure to follow all the wedding shenanigans on Instagram!

We will see you back here next Tuesday worn out and wedded. By we I mean I, as Natalie will have been whisked away on her surprise honeymoon!!!

Have a happy week my friends!
Erin
