Kansas City, you guys.  If you haven’t ever been, you must.  I would 100% move back there in a heartbeat.  As a final summer hurrah, we headed to KC for five days.  We filled our days eating Kansas City BBQ, visiting Deanna Rose Farm, hanging out with our friend, Jane at the Nelson-Atkins art museum, stopping at Fritz’s (where they deliver your food on a train!), and exploring Union Station.   E and I caught up with our good friend Margi, and her daughter shopping at Easy, Tiger in the West Bottoms and then Lunch on the Plaza!

It was so, so much fun having Eleanor see and explore all of the things that brought me so much happiness as a child!  Only bummer was that the Royals weren’t in town!  I guess that means we just have to head back!

Things are back to being busy, busy around here with the new school year!  I hope you are all staying cool in these sweltering temps!

Have a great weekend!
Erin

Bear with me on this post, friends, it has been an exciting month!  We love summer!

IMG_9282
Makeshift pools and cute suits are almost a daily staple around here!

IMG_9336
Lunch with eight of her friends that are under the age of four and nine adults.  It was a sight.

IMG_9380
A crop top on a baby.  Who would have thought it would be so cute!?!

IMG_9403
E visited her friend Nora at the zoo!

IMG_9445
As much as I love my mornings with my eighth graders, this is my happy place.

IMG_9570
Stopped by Columbus Commons for some Jeni’s!  The food truck court is open 11-2 every Thursday until October!

IMG_9583
I mean…

IMG_9626
Celebrated papa!  We sure love him!

IMG_9666
Started reading The Nightingale.  SO GOOD!

IMG_9804
I love having E be big enough to sit up front now.  REALLY frees up a lot of space in the cart.  Plus, now I have a people watching buddy!

IMG_9838
Y’all.  If you are local, you MUST try Pistacia Vera.  Must.

IMG_9849
I look a hot mess because I just generally am and when a stranger takes your photo you only get one shot.  But, I had to share.  It’s baby girl’s first baseball game and we take our baseball games very seriously!  And by seriously I mean we mostly just love to eat and drink outdoors.

IMG_9889
Oh, the high chair.  What was once a fun place to be because she could sit up, has now become a cage.  Feed me, then get me outta here!  We have also started trying sippy cups and E loves them!

IMG_9917
We have a fairly graceful crawler!  She gets where she needs to be!

IMG_9943
While we were out running errands, E fell asleep in her Solly wrap which has become rare because she just wants to watch everything.  It warmed my mama heart!

IMG_9979
Yesterday, Eleanor had her six month well visit and she did so great!  She is about 20 pounds which puts her in the 94th percentile, 55th for height.  We love our pediatrician if anyone local ever needs a great one!

The last month has gone by so quickly!  I feel so very thankful for my summer with Eleanor.

And now…the moment you’ve all been waiting for…the winner of the Freshly Picked Giveaway is…ANNA P.!  Congrats!!  Be on the lookout for an email from me later today!  Thank you to all who entered!!

I hope you all have a great day!
Erin

On Turning 30…

Well, hello thirty.  If you had asked me a little over 2 weeks ago how I felt about turning 30, the response would not have been great.  When I used to think about what age was ‘grown up’ 30 was it.  It was a birthday I was definitely dreading.

There was a moment, exactly 2 weeks ago today, that I had an epiphany.  It was Christmas Day and our house was full.  We had just brought Eleanor home 2 days before.  My Dad was cooking an elaborate meal, as usual, while my mom, brother, sister, brother-in-law, husband, Eleanor, and I were sitting in the living room.  We were eagerly anticipating the arrival of Matt’s family that afternoon.  My dad was getting ready to serve cinnamon rolls on a platter we received at our wedding–that we had probably not used until this moment.  And that’s when it hit me.  Everything I have done in my life has led to this very moment.  Growing up in Kansas City, meeting Matt at Purdue and all the memories made in our college years, moving to Virginia to build our little family of two, every friend we’ve met along the way, moving to Columbus, camping trips with friends, buying our first house together, finishing the basement, getting my master’s,  every student I’ve ever taught, all the extra jobs I’ve worked over the years, every coupon I’ve clipped to create my hoard of toilet paper and shampoo, every thoughtful gift we received to build Eleanor’s nursery, every moment: good or bad, has led to this very moment.  This was what it had all been meant for.  I know this sounds super cheesy and I don’t normally get sentimental about a whole lot, but the best way to describe the last few weeks for me, is blessed.  I feel so very blessed.  So turning thirty today feels different than I thought it would.  I’m excited for all that’s in store the next 30 years; all the memories we will have with our sweet Eleanor and all of our friends and family.

So here’s to the next 30! Let the adventure begin! Cheers!

Erin

Good Morning! It finally officially feels like summer around here. Last week, I was definitely in recovery mode from the wedding. My morning cup of tea and a cute list pad were made for lazy days.

Last weekend, we drove home to Matt’s hometown and attended a friend’s beautiful outdoor wedding. It was a gorgeous day with friends and of course my dapper hubby!

We also spent time with family by the fire outside, drinking wine and telling stories. And then had a wonderful brunch on Sunday before heading out. Love that family of mine!!

This week has consisted mostly of catching up on my shows, Skyping with Nennie and opening our Birchboxes (feels good to have that girl back!! She’s not allowed to leave for a week again.) and having a little ‘me’ day out and about!

So there you have it! Life has definitely slowed down a bit and I am loving it. Plus, all the family time has definitely left me smiling! What have you all been up to?

Hope you all have a happy Thursday!
Erin

Happy Monday, friends!

I hope you all had a relaxing weekend with family and friends. Any fabulous details from the weekend? We’d love to hear ’em!

Tad and I had quite the busy few days… we traveled to Memphis on Thursday evening for a job interview Tad had on Friday morning. After the interview we traveled to Jonesboro, AR for lunch with his sister and then headed to Batesville, AR to spend the evening with his folks. We left Saturday morning to head back to KC! Easter Sunday was spent in Leawood, KS with my family. It was a busy busy weekend but so fun! I love catching up with family.

Erin spent the 3-day weekend in Indiana, catching up with Matt’s family and seeing their new nephew!

Overall, it was a fabulous weekend. We wish we could do it all over again!

Hope Monday is treating you well!

Natalie
