Good morning, friends!  Hope you are having a great week so far!  Today, I wanted to share some of the skincare items that have been a total lifesaver the last few months.  In addition to this skin-cracking weather, this lady has been battling some seriously dry skin due to the sheer amount of bottles that I wash on a daily basis.  My skin has also been totally out of whack since I had the lil’ lady and the extra strain with soap and hot water has not been ideal.

Have you ever tried the CeraVe product line?  I keep the makeup cloths right next to me at all times.  They are perfect for cleaning up spit ups that inevitably end up all the way down my arms!  I also use them at night when I only have about five seconds to complete my nightly routine because I refuse to waste one minute awake while the baby is sleeping!

The healing ointment is also something that I have added to my daily routine.  They come in twin packs so I keep one next to where I feed E and one in my purse.  While I sit and feed, I rub this ointment on my hands, with extra attention to the especially dry spots.

My bodywash and lotion game has also had to be refigured.  I now take two showers a day.  One during morning nap and one as soon as Matt gets home from work.  This was majorly drying out my skin until I introduced moisture-locking soap and then a moisture-rich lotion right after I get out of the shower.  I especially like the Jergens Ultra Healing and the Eucerin Skin Calming lotions!

This girl is definitely looking forward to some warmer temps–last weekend was such a tease! Until then, I am finding it critical to keep a variety of products on hand, literally.  All of these products can be found at Meijer and, as always, for a great deal!

What are you all doing to beat these skin-cracking temps?  Have you tried any of these products?   I would love to hear your tips!

Check back next week to see how I am preparing for Spring!!
Have a great day!
Erin

A New Year with Meijer!

Good afternoon!  Well, today is my last day in my 20’s.  This year has been the best year of my life as we welcomed our sweet girl into this world.  Having her has made me feel a whole new way about life and health.  Right before I became pregnant with her, I had reshaped my eating habits with the Whole30 program and was working out quite a bit through Class Pass.  Once I became pregnant, my eating habits and pretty much way of life became about what baby girl needed.  I was constantly worried about what I was putting in my body because I knew she was directly getting what I gave her.  I started thinking more about organic products and overall nutrition and not just how to lose those pesky extra pounds.   Now that I have her and am reponsible for both of our nutrition, remembering to keep myself healthy has to be a top priority.  However,  this becomes quite difficult when you don’t know day from night,  you are carrying a nine pound baby all day so you basically only have one free hand at best, and you have absolutely no energy to create a delicious/healthy meal.  Family really saved us the first two weeks, waiting on us hand and foot, but once they left we had to figure out a game plan for staying healthy!

1. Keeping non-perishable items handy like Muscle Milk.  The added  protein helps to keep me full until I can fix a proper meal.  I rarely need more than a few sips so I just keep it in the fridge and sip as needed!

2.  Bananas have always been and always will be my best fruit friend. I had terrible leg cramps during pregnancy and was eating at least 2 bananas a day to keep them at bay.  They are also the perfect vessel for peanut butter and/or Nutella.

3. Matt got a NutriBullet for Christmas so we have been creating smoothies and storing them in individual portions or splitting them for meals with a side of avocado toast.  Delicious!  For a little extra boost, Matt adds protein powder to his!

4. Snack bars.  Everywhere.  I keep them in my nursing caddys, purse, diaper bag, etc…I’ve been stocking up on high protein versions so that they are filling enough that I don’t eat 1,000 of them a day.  Truly, they have been a lifesaver.

It has been a whirlwind year–check back tomorrow for some reflections and more baby pics!–but today I wanted to pop in to share how we are staying healthy in the new year!  What are your resolutions for the year?  What are your tips and tricks for staying healthy?

As always be sure to hop onto Meijer mPerks to load those digital coupons to help save you money on all your health needs this year!

Have a great day!

Erin

Fall Beauty with Meijer!

14 Monday Sep 2015

Good morning and a very happy Monday to you all!  The first true fall weekend of the year gets me all kinds of happy.  It’s when I do the great switch out of everything.  While the hubby watches his football, I concentrate on buying and getting out everything I own that is even slightly pumpkin.

After my house smells like a fall harvest explosion, I begin tackling my beauty products.  Each season, the act of switching out my products brings me great, great joy.

1. For makeup, every two seasons, I invest in new brushes.  I give them a good cleaning every couple of weeks, but at just about six months, they get the good ol’ toss.   I also switch out my really bright pinks in favor of more muted/matte pinks.  In general, I tend to hoard so I try to toss what I don’t really use and invest in some new makeup that gets me excited to get up and get ready.  While I don’t use a whole lot of makeup, I try to find ways to genuinely enjoy the few minutes I spend putting on the basics of:
-If it’s a rough day: concealer under the eyes
-mineral powder foundation
-a little eyeshadow (I really love a little bit of shimmer that can double as a highlighter around the eyebrows)
-black liquid eyeliner for above the eyes; a pencil for below
-mascara
-blush
-lipstick

2.  Next, my favorite, is perfume.  I hoard this stuff.  Seasonally, I get hooked on one scent, maybe two and neglect the others.  Rotating them helps keep them exciting and fresh!

3. At the end of the day, makeup removal is a top priority.  If I sleep in my makeup, I will wakeup feeling and looking like a zombie.  Plus, I shower at night and if I don’t remove my makeup before my shower, I come out looking like Alice Cooper (which my mom used to call me growing up on account of my wild hair and general lack of teenage upkeep).  SO, I’m happy to say I do remove my makeup to avoid being called this in my adult years.  I love how gentle the micellar water is and then I follow with moizturizer immediately after I get out of the shower.

4.  When it comes to hair and skin these days, I cannot get enough moisture.  My belly itches all day.  I know with the impending dry months ahead, this situation is probably only going to get worse, so I am stocking up.  I pretty much only buy products that claim deep moisture–one product that this has become especially true for is body wash.  I used to just use any old thing, but I have recently switched over to Dove which has really helped!

5.  Last, but certainly not least in my beauty routine, is hygiene.  Especially when it comes to toothpaste, I have become more particular about what I use because inevitably I feel like I am swallowing some of it so it has become increasingly important to me to find natural products.  Plus, have you smelled Tom’s deodorant?  Heaven.

Every season, I am able to find everything I need (and for a steal) at Meijer.  If you live in the midwest, you know how amazing this place is.  It has everything you need.  If you aren’t already an mPerks member, head on over and get signed up.  It takes just a few minutes and the savings are incredible.  Simply clip the coupons onto your account and then start shopping.  You can also enroll in certain programs to earn points for even greater rewards like money towards your next shopping trip. Yes, please!

So, what are your tips or must have beauty items this fall?  As always, let me know if you have any questions about Meijer or mPerks!

Have a great day!
Erin

Good morning!! Hope you all had a fabulous weekend!! It has been quite snowy and cold here the last few days!  This girl has literally been trapped in her house for four days straight.  Needless to say I am going a bit stir crazy.  Reorganizing, cleaning my beauty products, and dreaming of spring is the only way I am getting through these bitter temps.  Here are some of my spring cleaning tips to get you started on the path to a fresh new look for spring!

1. Toss out any expired products, stat!

2. I don’t know about you, but I acquire quite a bit of beauty products that I simply will not use.  I get samples through box subscriptions that are just the wrong color or that I don’t use in my normal skin routine.  Solution: have a trade party! Get a few of your friends together, pop some bubbly, and trade those products for things you will actually use!

3. Take every. single. thing. out of your shower and give it a good scrub.  Then replace it with staples that you will use every time you get in the shower.  I find that I tend to clutter my products and it makes it hard to find what I need to use.  Simplifying can help you to maintain a consistent beauty routine!

4. Trade out seasonal colors and clean those brushes.  Every season I try to dedicate a Saturday afternoon to makeup rotation.  For spring, trade out those reds for pinks and reintroduce your bronzers!  I also try to make sure I have foundations that have SPF in them for those warmer days where I might be outside more often!

5. The final piece I am adding to my mix of spring cleaning, is a consistent night and morning routine.  I am trying to be better about flossing–Hi, Mom!–and now that my 30’s are rapidly approaching–a more consistent anti-aging routine.  You can never start too early? Am I right?!

What are your spring cleaning and beauty tips?  Just a few more weeks, friends! We can do this and let’s refresh our spring beauty routine with Meijer this season!! Head here to take a peek at their beauty book for some beauty tips and money saving coupons!

Happy Monday!
Erin
