Good morning!! Hope you all had a great weekend!  It’s time for the spring beauty event at Meijer!  Every year I look forward to cleaning out my hoard of beauty products that ends up stashed everywhere and refreshing my daily routine.  Usually on the first nice day or two of the new year, I open up the windows and tackle underneath the cabinets, my product closet, my dresser, and all of the thousands of makeup bags I keep in my bags/car/school.  I start by taking all of the products from said locations and throw them in the bathroom.  That way I know what I have. I then toss any old products or products that have become dirty or messy in their day to day use.  I clean out the bags, brushes and products and then replace them with the new seasons colors or scents.  The whole thing actually takes hours and I feel SO good when it’s done.  It really is the most cathartic day of the year.

Here are some of the new products I supplemented my routine with this season at Meijer:

  1. MOISTURE anything.  Right now in our house literally everything is dry.  I have always been a fan of Pantene, but the new Dreamcare line is awesome.
  2. Ever since I had E, I have become a huge fan of soap in the form of foam.  Sounds really frivolous, but for me it cuts out the middle man.  For dishes that means I don’t really need a sponge to get it to suds up and in the shower that means no loofa! Just makes the whole thing easier in my opinion and I feel like you get more bang for your buck which y’all know I love.
  3. I really like all of L’Oreal’s new seasonal products.  The lip paints go on really smoothly and they are more nude which I’m finding surprisingly flattering despite my draw to the bright pink family.  The Lumi Cushion foundation has two separate compartments: one where you get the powder and another where you can pat it to get the excess off which is a really nice feature.
  4. Covergirl So Lashy goes on really smooth and gets you those full lashes.  I really should have taken a picture of the brush.  It means business.
  5. L’Oreal’s new clay line.  Ok, for real, I tried the clay mask on my hair (remember that I only wash my hair a couple of times a week) and it made my hair feel like butter.  Cuts through the oil and takes five minutes before you shower.  Then, throughout the week, I’ve been using the dry shampoo which is a total lifesaver.  I keep dry oil and dry shampoo in every single room/bag/space of my life.
  6. I love the spring beauty event at Meijer because it means my favorite deodorant goes on sale.  This stuff is gold.
  7. Facial wipes are a mama’s baby wipes.  Easy makeup removal at night or on the go when you just need to freshen up.  The cucumber is my fave.

What new products are you loving this season?  What’s your favorite way to prepare for the new season?

Also: my little helper is just the sweetest, she’s really getting the hang of the perfect flatlay. 😉

Hope you all have a fabulous start to the week!  And remember to download those mPerks for extra savings before you head to Meijer this week to shop the spring sale!

Preparing for Baby!

Well, we have almost made it twelve weeks.  This whole parenting thing is so much more than I ever thought it would be.  SO much more.  The highs and lows are so real and so much more powerful than I had ever imagined.  With each passing day, I become more and more thankful for the moments we share as a family and seeing how much Eleanor has changed our lives. We were definitely parenting newbies and we have had to redesign her nursery four times because it was absolutely not functional the first three times.  We have lived and learned a whole lot these last twelve weeks so I thought I would share some of the products that have helped save our sanity these first few weeks!

Bathtime

1. Baby Washcloths  This was one of the items I was ready to roll my eyes at that we added to the registry.  What on Earth!?  Can’t we just use regular ones??  WELL let me tell you.  Our little one will only bathe with one of these soaked with warm water on top of her head, belly, and feet.  And just TRY washing her with anything else.  Just try.  The addition of these cloths has made bathtime possible, even enjoyable.

2. 4moms Bathtub  Ok, so I will admit that I am still not totally sure how this tub’s bells and whistles work.  What I love about it is that it fits in the sink and now in the bathtub.  I think she is outgrowing it a bit because we have to plug up the drain in it so that she can really work herself down into the warmth of the water.  This girl HATES to be cold.

Diapering

3. Butt Paste  What I love is that it doesn’t smell and so far we have been rash free.  We’ve used the non-sensitive too and works just as well!

4. Honest Healing Balm  OK, this stuff must be made of unicorn tears or something.  It’s kind of on the pricey side, but I am ready to smear this stuff on my face.  Eleanor will scratch her face or develop a dry spot and we put just a dab of this stuff on and within the hour, nothing remains.  We will put it in her diaper area in the mornings and after bath if the area seems irritated at all.  I am almost to the point of  the “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”‘s dad and Windex with this stuff.  Anytime anything goes wrong I suggest using this stuff.  Sleep?  Put some healing balm on it.

Play

5. 4moms Rockaroo Again, this was something that my pre-baby self kinda had to laugh at.  And then the baby won’t stop crying and you set them in this and immediate cooing commences.  Worth every penny.  I also thought that I only needed one sleeper/play seat.  No.  You need one for every room unless carrying it from room to room is something you enjoy which you won’t when you have a baby in your arms.  Eleanor slept in this in our room until we transitioned her to her crib and now we use it as the downstairs seat.  Now that she is older she loves to sit in her Rockaroo and look at the lights and play with a few toys!

Sleep

6. We thought Eleanor didn’t like to be swaddled until we found these.  She would fight her way out of everything else and the blanket would be up around her face and then I wouldn’t be able to sleep thinking about it getting all tangled up around her.  We only put her in the swaddle when it’s nighttime (hoping she associates it with LONG sleep!  We also put on this lotion to help her sense bedtime).

7. Speaking of bedtime, E has been a pretty decent sleeper.  We turn on this sound machine at bedtime to the ocean sound and it also has a light projector.  So her routine is bath, lotion, swaddle, turn on machine, she looks at lights while I feed her, burp/put in pacifier, then I lay her down and she falls asleep watching the lights.  I have associated her sleeping habits to this exact routine and I had a small panic attack when the projector flickered the other night while I was feeding.  Turns out a sock just fell in front of it and I made a mental note to add this item to our must-have list as my blood pressure spikes at the thought of it breaking.

8.  So I was petrified that Eleanor was going to freeze to death in our house.  Not only do we keep the house pretty cold, it is also just drafty.  This heater has a crib sensor that turns the heater on and off to regulate the temperature of the crib so that the baby does not overheat.  I also selfishly love this so that when E wakes up in the middle of a cold winter’s night I look forward to getting out of bed and scurrying into her room because it is so warm and cozy!

Eating

9. These bottles have made it possible for me to switch between feeding methods and bonus: they are so much easier to wash than some other brands.

10. I’m actually really stumped as to what people did with their bottles before this product’s existence.  It actually makes me feel like my kitchen is still a place where we do other things than wash bottles and pump parts.  My cracking-off hands assume that I do nothing else, but at least the kitchen appears otherwise.

11.  Speaking of washing ALL THE BOTTLES, this soap is amazing.  I’m not sure about what other brands offer, but foaming soap is a must for bottles.  Otherwise, you will spend 2,397,986 hours trying to get all of the soap out of all the nooks and crannys.  No, thank you.

12.  When I was feeding E at the beginning and even now, it can be tricky to gauge when they are hungry or not.  The discovery that the pacifier can help a mama out has been amazing for both of us.  If she doesn’t take the pacifier (this is especially important for me at night) then I know she is hungry.  One tricky part is finding the right size for your baby…we have a ton, but the only ones we can get to stay in her mouth are the MAM newborn pacifiers.

Anything you would add to the list??  Would love to hear your thoughts on products we need for the next stint of this journey too!

Have a happy day, friends!
Erin

Spring Refresh with Meijer!

Hi, friends!  It is FINALLY that time of year.  Spring temps are approaching, the days are getting longer, and I think we might have had our last snowfall.  Around this same time last year, I posted my spring cleaning tips and my goal this year was to complete my spring revamp before returning to work.  I feel like when my house is put together and everything has a place, I just feel more put together overall.  I spent the entire day last Saturday doing just that.  I tossed products that weren’t working for me anymore, replaced makeup that was drying up, and deep cleaned our bathroom.  I tend to hoard products and love trying everything out as soon as I get it, but the result is stuff everywhere.  So, each spring, and really at the start of each new season, I look forward to going through what I truly use everyday and organizing it so that it is simple to find in the mad dash that is our mornings.  This means sorting several spaces in our house and cleaning out each makeup bag that I keep in my bag stash by the door (work bag, baby bag, errands bag, etc…).

Some of the products I am loving for the new season are the new Tresemme new Reverse System, Covergirl Matte Lipcolor in Passion, Aveeno Absolutely Ageless line, and the new all-in-one Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (I especially love using this in the morning!)

All of these products and more can be found at Meijer!  And…as always, for such a deal–and you know I love a good deal!

What are your spring cleaning tips?  Any products you are loving this season??

Happy Saturday!!
Erin

Winter Skincare with Meijer!

Good morning, friends!  Hope you are having a great week so far!  Today, I wanted to share some of the skincare items that have been a total lifesaver the last few months.  In addition to this skin-cracking weather, this lady has been battling some seriously dry skin due to the sheer amount of bottles that I wash on a daily basis.  My skin has also been totally out of whack since I had the lil’ lady and the extra strain with soap and hot water has not been ideal.

Have you ever tried the CeraVe product line?  I keep the makeup cloths right next to me at all times.  They are perfect for cleaning up spit ups that inevitably end up all the way down my arms!  I also use them at night when I only have about five seconds to complete my nightly routine because I refuse to waste one minute awake while the baby is sleeping!

The healing ointment is also something that I have added to my daily routine.  They come in twin packs so I keep one next to where I feed E and one in my purse.  While I sit and feed, I rub this ointment on my hands, with extra attention to the especially dry spots.

My bodywash and lotion game has also had to be refigured.  I now take two showers a day.  One during morning nap and one as soon as Matt gets home from work.  This was majorly drying out my skin until I introduced moisture-locking soap and then a moisture-rich lotion right after I get out of the shower.  I especially like the Jergens Ultra Healing and the Eucerin Skin Calming lotions!

This girl is definitely looking forward to some warmer temps–last weekend was such a tease! Until then, I am finding it critical to keep a variety of products on hand, literally.  All of these products can be found at Meijer and, as always, for a great deal!

What are you all doing to beat these skin-cracking temps?  Have you tried any of these products?   I would love to hear your tips!

Check back next week to see how I am preparing for Spring!!
Have a great day!
Erin

Well happy Wednesday, friends!! Phew–things are getting real around the Johnson household. We are finding that every minute is consumed with baby to-dos.  Then about halfway through accomplishing a baby related task, I usually cry because I realize we only have NINE more weeks of just Matt and I after TEN years of just us.  This baby is such a blessing and we are finding ourselves more and more excited for their arrival each day, but we also know how much is going to change–and that is just a tad scary!  It also didn’t help that when we mentioned to our doctor’s office that we were traveling this weekend, they suggested we go ahead and pack our carseat, hospital bags, and copy of medical records just in case.  Insert wide-eyed emoji here.

Ok, so let’s get to the nitty gritty.  Baby stuff is on the brain so prepare yourself for overload the next 2 months. Sorry in advance.

  1. Teething necklace.  Functional and cute.  Yep!
  2. Halloween Cards.  The best holiday is upon us!! Wouldn’t miss a chance to send a little spooky mail!
  3. Sugar Paper Signature Pen.
  4. These gold earrings are to die for and they are only $12.  Score.
  5. Floral Power Trip Cord.  I feel like I am always on the go these days, a backup charger and this car charger are essentials.
  6. Essie ‘After School Boy Blazer’.
  7. Kai Body Lotion.
  8. So, June and January just launched their fall line and it includes dozens of new pieces that are gender neutral like this bib.  Swoon.
  9. This basket is just begging to be filled with cute baby toys.
  10. Ok, so this reptile pillow is a little boyish.  We can’t help it.  We are 99% sure that’s what we are having so it couldn’t hurt just to get this and then worst case scenario, girls like dinosaurs too?

What all are you guys loving this week?  Any baby goods I am missing???

Hope you have a great rest of the week–2 more days!
Erin
