Fall Beauty with Meijer!

Good morning and a very happy Monday to you all!  The first true fall weekend of the year gets me all kinds of happy.  It’s when I do the great switch out of everything.  While the hubby watches his football, I concentrate on buying and getting out everything I own that is even slightly pumpkin.

After my house smells like a fall harvest explosion, I begin tackling my beauty products.  Each season, the act of switching out my products brings me great, great joy.

1. For makeup, every two seasons, I invest in new brushes.  I give them a good cleaning every couple of weeks, but at just about six months, they get the good ol’ toss.   I also switch out my really bright pinks in favor of more muted/matte pinks.  In general, I tend to hoard so I try to toss what I don’t really use and invest in some new makeup that gets me excited to get up and get ready.  While I don’t use a whole lot of makeup, I try to find ways to genuinely enjoy the few minutes I spend putting on the basics of:
-If it’s a rough day: concealer under the eyes
-mineral powder foundation
-a little eyeshadow (I really love a little bit of shimmer that can double as a highlighter around the eyebrows)
-black liquid eyeliner for above the eyes; a pencil for below
-mascara
-blush
-lipstick

2.  Next, my favorite, is perfume.  I hoard this stuff.  Seasonally, I get hooked on one scent, maybe two and neglect the others.  Rotating them helps keep them exciting and fresh!

3. At the end of the day, makeup removal is a top priority.  If I sleep in my makeup, I will wakeup feeling and looking like a zombie.  Plus, I shower at night and if I don’t remove my makeup before my shower, I come out looking like Alice Cooper (which my mom used to call me growing up on account of my wild hair and general lack of teenage upkeep).  SO, I’m happy to say I do remove my makeup to avoid being called this in my adult years.  I love how gentle the micellar water is and then I follow with moizturizer immediately after I get out of the shower.

4.  When it comes to hair and skin these days, I cannot get enough moisture.  My belly itches all day.  I know with the impending dry months ahead, this situation is probably only going to get worse, so I am stocking up.  I pretty much only buy products that claim deep moisture–one product that this has become especially true for is body wash.  I used to just use any old thing, but I have recently switched over to Dove which has really helped!

5.  Last, but certainly not least in my beauty routine, is hygiene.  Especially when it comes to toothpaste, I have become more particular about what I use because inevitably I feel like I am swallowing some of it so it has become increasingly important to me to find natural products.  Plus, have you smelled Tom’s deodorant?  Heaven.

Every season, I am able to find everything I need (and for a steal) at Meijer.  If you live in the midwest, you know how amazing this place is.  It has everything you need.  If you aren’t already an mPerks member, head on over and get signed up.  It takes just a few minutes and the savings are incredible.  Simply clip the coupons onto your account and then start shopping.  You can also enroll in certain programs to earn points for even greater rewards like money towards your next shopping trip. Yes, please!

So, what are your tips or must have beauty items this fall?  As always, let me know if you have any questions about Meijer or mPerks!

Have a great day!
Erin

*I was gifted product for review by Meijer, but all opinions, as always, are my own!

Good morning, loves!  It’s been a doozy of a week over here so I for one am stoked about the impending weekend.  We have another weekend at home where I plan on putting my feet up, doing a little baking, and probably more online shopping.  The perfect weekend if you ask me!  Here’s what I am loving this week!

  1. There is greek yogurt in these cookies so I am almost positive that makes them healthy.
  2. I am not usually one to sit around and relax on the weekends, but lately it’s a must.  This blanket should pair nicely with my tufted ottoman I am currently using to prop up my feet and my fuzzy slippers!
  3. So, maybe you all have some advice here, but I feel like my phone has literally no storage space.  Right now there are around 30 pictures on it and it is taking up half the space.  I have to clear it out weekly–who knows how often I will have to clear it out once baby arrives.   Definitely going to need a cute flash drive!  Although, we have found that that this baby is already like their father because as soon as I try to film the kicks, they suddenly cease.  Camera goes off; you know the drill.  Cute, but frustrating.
  4. This week my mantra has been breathe.  Between seriously bruised and swollen ankles and a little trouble sleeping with my growing belly, we have also been on our first maternity tour and going on our second tonight.  Let me just say, I cried four  times at the first hospital.  I think it should be a rule that they cannot take expectant mothers by the nursery.  Every single one of us was crying.  It makes it all feel so real.  But in all honesty, despite that I now have to plan my outfits around a maternity girdle and compression hose, this little nugget brings me so much joy already.  Annnnnd I am crying again.
  5. Santa, I need this face mask.  And pretty much everything else fresh makes. Thanks!
  6. You guys!  This dry shampoo works.  I know you all may not be the dry shampoo freaks that I am, but I literally never leave the house without it.  I usually opt for the powder, but this spray is heavenly I tell you!
  7. SO to make myself feel better about having to buy a maternity belt, I went ahead and splurged on this purse.  When the large Target box arrived and out spilled all the maternity stuff, even the hubby wasn’t mad about this purchase.  Mama needed a treat too!
  8. Noble Carriage seriously has the cutest stuff.  This adorable teether included.  If you have baby fever, steer clear.
  9. Why, oh why are onesies with sayings on them so stinking cute?!
  10. Again, most of my outfits are designed to hide m’ hose so boots are pretty much all I can wear–usually paired with leggings and a long shirt.  So, I am thinking about splurging on another pair for fall.  What do we think about this option?  I am tempted, but also think I need a pair with a slightly shorter heel?  Thoughts? Suggestions?

I hope you all had an amazing week and have a wonderful weekend!
Cheers!
Erin

Fall Transition Pinspiration!

Good morning!  If you’ve been following me over on Pinterest lately, you have probably deduced that all I seem to have on the brain lately is how to dress, sweets, and babies.  I am finding that the fall transition has been a little tricky because I haven’t quite splurged on jeans yet.  Next on my list!  But, I have found that those flowy tops that were awkward at the beginning fit quite nicely now that I look pregnant in pretty much everything.  Here are some cute outfit ideas I am thinking for the upcoming weeks!

  1. This simple, but stylish outfit is a must once I get those darn jeans.  Love the red polish with the skinny jeans and simple black flats.
  2. I am all about layers.  Right now in Columbus, it can go from 85 to 70 very quickly and as if that isn’t tricky enough, the air conditioning in our school gets very confused by the weather changes.  It is freezing in my classroom one second and then sweltering the next.  Layers are a must.  This layered dress and military style jacket is perfection.
  3. This is also a dreamy dress/sweater layering option.
  4. It wouldn’t be a fall round-up if there weren’t stripes.  I am loving this striped option.  Looks so cozy!

I am so incredibly excited for fall, can you tell?!  Hope this gave you a little inspiration!  What are you loving for the upcoming season?

Also, don’t forget to get yourself entered in our blogiversary giveaway!  Ends Sunday!
Have a great day!
Erin

Fall Essentials: In My Bag!

Good morning!! Fall has officially hit Columbus. The weather is perfection and I lit my first pumpkin scented candle, so that pretty much makes it official. Here are a couple of things that are must have items in my bag for the fall transition!

  1. This has become an essential. My legs are not doing so hot and need pretty much all the support they can get. And I hear this is pretty great for after the baby too?
  2. It is my mission to stay healthy this season. Already at school we have had projectile vomitters, sneezing galore, and plowed through most of our tissues. Plus, I nanny for two little ones who seem to always have sticky hands. Always. These handy little wipes are amazing–and cute to boot!
  3. I cannot say enough about this planner. Apparently everyone else feels the same way too, because it is sold out everywhere!
  4. I got hooked on Lara Bars when I was doing Whole30 and now I never leave the house without one stashed in my bag. Can’t wait for the release of the seasonal flavors!
  5. In the spring and summer, I wear Wild Bluebell by Jo Malone or Kate Spade Live Colorfully, but once fall hits, I switch over to my absolute favorite perfume of all time: Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb. The scent is spicier and absolutely perfect for the fall!
  6. Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment is heaven. I usually switch out my pinks in favor of a redder shade, I have never really looked great in the maroon colors associated with fall. This provides just enough color and is moisturizing at the same time! Win!
  7. Essie Smokin’ Hot. I’ve been wearing this for weeks and I cannot get enough! Love this shade! And does anyone feel like Essie reformulated? It goes on so smooth and dries super fast now!
  8. Dry Shampoo: I never leave the house without it.
  9. This oil has been a Godsend. The constant itching has started and this seems to be the only thing that cures it.
  10. Ok, so I do not actually own this bag, yet. At only $38 it seems like the only real option for fall.
  11. I walk to work, so it is actually becoming that time of year where I do actually carry shoes in my bag. On top of that, I also have this awesome new accessory called compression hose. Finding shoes that work with those all day is pretty much impossible so I like to have options!

So that’s what I am totin’ around these days! What about you? What are your essentials for this season?

Stay tuned Monday for a little giveaway to celebrate 3 YEARS of this here blog! Until then, I hope everyone has a great weekend!
Erin

Happy Thursday, friends!

It’s definitely feeling like Fall in Kansas City right now. The leaves are really starting to change colors, the wind is blowing them all across the neighborhood, and the temps are starting to dip into the 40s. My everyday uniform is a knitted wool sweater and socks, and I’ve always got a coffee in my hand and a pumpkin pie candle going on in the background.

I’ve decided to round- up my favorite fall recipes from the blog… some new, some old. If you haven’t had a chance to try these yet, definitely get to it. They’re all delicious and will leave your house smelling so dang fabulous!
