Good Morning!  We have now had six swim lessons and E is loving the water.  I apologize that some of the pictures are a little blurry…I sit behind the glass at the lessons and try my very hardest not to be seen.  When she is with Matt and she is well-rested she is ok seeing me at a distance, but when Matt’s mom took her, she was having a blast until she saw me behind the glass.  Holy yikes.  I am also already that mom behind the glass, so I am choosing to spare Eleanor’s (Matt’s) embarrassment at coming in and taking pictures poolside.  Pooltime has become a daddy/daughter thing and it is the sweetest ever.

Some of the skills E has mastered since her first lesson:
Climbing up out of the pool with just a bit of assistance
Jumping back into the pool with confidence
Going underwater without freaking out
Kicking while holding onto the barbell raft thing
Splashing on the raft
Kicking her feet to  move to get the balls or the ducks

Her instructor, Deon, is absolutely phenomenal.  He kept his distance when he knew she was uneasy and now Eleanor is as happy as a clam around him.  He sings with the kids, smiles the entire time, and has just the right amount of energy for this age group.
The way that the class is structured is also a huge part of the reason E stays calm.  The activity that the class is working on changes every minute or so.  She never has too much time to go looking for what’s behind the glass.  Bam: quack quacks are out and now we are climbing out of the pool and now we are jumping back in!  And now get on the raft!  The whole class goes by really fast and every single baby is happy and learning.  That is skill right there!

We honestly look forward to her swim lessons–hands down the best part of the weekend!  With summer approaching we are so glad that E will be excited about the water and have the basics of swimming down!
Thank you so much Goldfish for creating such a positive experience for the whole family!

Hope you all have a great start to the week!
Erin

Also: In case you need some swimwear ideas, I posted several great options here!

The weather in Ohio has been crazy so we’ve been exploring lots of indoor places!  First up was Cosi Science Museum!  She had a blast!  She could do way more than I thought she’d be able to!
img_2379
…and the sickness continues.  She had GI/flu issues all of December and into January and then a double ear infection/double pink eye.  Oh, and about five molars came in.  She still has a lingering runny nose and cough.  Thankfully, she is back to sleeping and eating regularly.
img_2495
She is obsessed with this car.  She makes car noises and points to the door almost every day.  Now she says car car.  Still waiting on her to say mama.  The girl has her priorities in language.
img_2494
Aunt Nennie came to visit and it was actually decent weather out–as in, not totally freeze your face off weather.
img_2804
E started Swim lessons and we have our 6th class tomorrow so there will be an update next week!
img_2900
E now knows where baby sister is and if you ask her, even in public, where her baby sister is, she will lift up my shirt and blow raspberries.  Kills me.
img_3047
I attended a super informative event on peanut butter allergies at Alchemy.  The event was put on by Crazy Richard’s Peanut Butter and they talked about the new recommendation about serving peanut butter to babies between the ages of 4-6 months to decrease the prevalence of peanut allergies.  They make a peanut butter powder that you can add to any baby foods!  Genius!  Way better option that just dishing up a spoonful which is what we did with E!
img_3171
Eleanor got her first pets!  She knows right where they are and gets so excited when we ask if she wants to go feed her fish!
img_3363
Oh. My. Gosh.  She points at the T.V. and asks for Bar.  Then she sits and demands crackers–which she can also say.  (so if you are keeping track, she can say baby, baba for milk, b for her pacifier, bar, car car, and cracker–no mama).  Priorities.
img_3532
We finally got her this table and chairs so she loves to sit and eat at the table.  A full post coming soon on toddler eating!
img_3550
Ah, sunshine.
img_3572
She finally got out and got her car cleaned.  It was really becoming an eye sore.
img_3603
We had a girl date at Piada and then snagged up some scoops at Jeni’s!
img_3738
When my dad was in town last week, in addition to getting the big stuff set up in E’s room (full posts on that coming soon!), we hit up our favorite Pistacia Vera and E got to try her first macaron!
img_3817
We then headed out to Franklin Park Conservatory because they were having a bring your American Girl Doll event!  The activity was a little old for her, but she loved being able to take her baby out on the town.  I just love watching her explore and take in the things around her!  And she was able to pick out a few things for her fairy garden this summer!
img_4003
And just like that we are almost in the home stretch!  I am 27 weeks with baby sister today and E has been super lovey dovey lately.  Especially about mommy, daddy, and babies.  She is ready to be a big sister!

And that’s about it for us!  What about you all?? What have you been up to?  Hope you are staying warm and well!

Have a great weekend!
Erin

Good morning!! Hope you have all had a great and hopefully short week!  Today I have partnered with The Baby Cubby to share my essentials for baby #2!  We loved so many of the products that we registered for and I posted about here, here, and here.  While we plan to use those same products as E moves towards more toddler items, there are items that we will have to repurchase because we will need two or I just didn’t know about before E!  The thing I love the most about The Baby Cubby is that they are more than just a store or even just a registry site, they handpick items that mamas have tried and tested and are the very best out there.  Almost every brand that I love is available on The Baby Cubby AND they price match for you!!!  You can read more about them here!  Below is a list of what we are planning to purchase for baby #2 who is due to arrive in just 3.5 months!

  1. It’s double stroller time!!  We loved our Britax Travel System with E!  There’s also a second seat attachment that might make for an lightweight option!
  2. The Ollie Swaddle  we have heard miracle stories about this swaddle and we were definitely newbs at swaddling with E.  This swaddle is meant to grow with baby and it has easy access at the bottom for changes!  Can’t wait to try it out!
  3. Bannor Toys Rattle  We had tons of Bannor Toys teethers for E and she loved the little rings on them so I’m thinking the new babe needs a rattle version!
  4. You know my girl is gonna have her own little collection of Freshly Picked Moccasins.   Read more about my love of these shoes here and basically every post. ever.
  5. Skip Hop Diaper Backpack  I am definitely thinking we need a backpack for baby #2.  We had this bag for E and we loved it, but I need both hands for 2 under 2.  I also love this backpack option (Gems of Giverny color) because I have heard a zip opening is key so everything doesn’t fall out?
  6. We love Tubby Todd!  And now they have a Mama Line!  I will be throwing this freshening spray in my diaper bag on the regular so I don’t smell like baby vomit all of the time.  Read more on my love of Tubby Todd here!
  7. Loved By Sophia Claire Pacifier Clips we didn’t really use any clips with E and honestly I can’t think of why?  Really would have saved us some stressful moments frantically searching for that bink.  On the floor of a restaurant.
  8. Speaking of binks.  We gotta come up with a plan.  We really want to keep E’s pacifier usage to a minimum which is already hard with the teething, sicknesses, and the fact that she sees other kids at daycare with them.  But now she will have a permanent person in the house that will have it constantly, especially at the beginning.  SO, our plan is to maybe use different pacifiers that we know E doesn’t like (because they don’t look like hers).  We have heard great things about these Natursutten Pacifiers and are excited to give them a try!
  9. Little Unicorn Cotton Quilt.  We are going to have to get all new blankets for baby as E has officially claimed all of the blankets in the house, even ones we set aside for other babies because no way one baby would need so many blankets. Yeah.  No guarantee she won’t also claim these (I mean who wouldn’t–they are SO cute!), but eventually we will have to have separate blankets that are each of the girls.  I also love this Little Unicorn Lemon Swaddle.  Well, really just anything Little Unicorn makes.  So good.
  10. And of course baby girl is going to need her own baby book!  We loved the one we had for E so going with the same one again!

What else do we need when we have two?!  I was having way too much fun building my list of items–really made it feel real!  We are getting close here people!  3.5 months!
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Erin
