The weather has finally been nice enough to get out and play a bit.   We definitely have an outdoor girl on our hands.  She will just start bringing you items one by one to put on her and yourself…coats, hats, etc…and then will grunt and point outside.  I really need the nice weather to stay because my toddler does not understand fickle Ohio weather.

I posted about E’s Transition to her new room and one adjustment we’ve made is having her sleep with her Grand Dockatot in her crib first before we switch her over to using it in her bed.  She’s been sleeping so well ever since…no more waking up at night (knock on wood!!!!).  Be sure to check out the whole post for links to items and to see what else we’re doing to make the transition a bit easier!
IMG_4459
I also posted about E’s eating and we celebrated St. Patrick’s day in style!

I posted all about what’s going in the girls’ Easter baskets–I cannot wait!!!

Little miss diva’s uncle Paul came to town so we headed down to the Brewery District and had a fancy lunch at Rockmill Tavern!

I finally got my hair done over spring break and when I went to pick up E at the sitter she didn’t recognize me.  Yowza, gotta do maintenance more often.

I wrote a post about trying out this stroller that will eventually become our double stroller!

E’s first trip to the zoo of the season!  She was very unsure of the large animals like the gorilla, but LOVED the animals that she sees on Barney and in her barn books.  She waved at them and everything.  Pretty much the cutest thing ever.  I cannot wait to take the girls this summer!

Seriously, can it please stay warm out all year long?!
IMG_5447
It’s been a mix of sun and rain here in Ohio which I kind of love!  So fun to be outside right before the storms roll in!

E graduated to Mini 2 at Goldfish!!  I posted an update this month here!

Last weekend we got takeout from Milestone 229 and headed down to the river with some friends to have a picnic and walk around!  It is seriously so gorgeous down there!

I am almost 32 weeks and starting to get to that really uncomfortably large stage so picking up E has become quite the task…especially when she just wants to run after ducks and trash.

Time seems to be flying now that we are in the home stretch…June 2 will be here before we know it–we’re ready to meet you baby girl!

What have you all been up to?  Hopefully out there enjoying the sunshine when you can get it!!
Hope you are having a fabulous week!!
Erin

Good morning!! Ah, I could just squeal!!  I love love love holidays if you can’t tell.  I have had these baskets ready pretty much since Valentine’s day.  The holidays are such a point of tradition for me.  I grew up with every single holiday being a big deal and I can’t wait to start traditions with our girls.  Eleanor already gets so excited about the littlest things and it is just so fun to watch.  Makes my mama heart explode.  All of these factors sends this mama into overdrive for all things holiday (St. Patrick’s day post coming next Friday with a pretty sweet giveaway so stay tuned for that!!).
So, today I’ve paired up with Finn + Emma to share some ideas to fill up those baskets for the littles this year!  I absolutely love the look of the pieces that Finn + Emma make.   The bicycle and hedgehog are going to be perfect on baby sister’s stroller this summer!  Plus, they are organically made and eco safe!  The pieces could not be more perfect for spring/Easter!

Eleanor’s Basket (found basket at Target for $1):
Dreamcatcher Pajamas from Finn + Emma
Chick and Bunny Socks
$1 Target bubbles
$3 Beauty Kit from Target Dollar Spot
Filled another bag I found at Target for $3 with Books and stickers (from Target dollar spot):
Stuck
Hooray for Hat
The Tiny Seed
Happy Easter, Mouse!
Found the Eggs at Target and will fill those with:
Toddler Fruit Snacks
Cheddar Bunnies

Other ideas for toddler basket:
Sidewalk Chalk
Hair Accessories
Pouches

Little Sister’s Basket (found basket at Target for $1):
Mini Rattle from Finn + Emma
Bicycle from Finn + Emma
Hedgehog Stroller Set from Finn + Emma
P is for Peter Book

I am so excited about all of the pieces from Finn + Emma.  They are such nice quality!  And bonus!  If you click through this link you will see a coupon code for 15% off a purchase of $50 or more!

Now I just have to patiently wait to give all of these things to Eleanor for another month or so.  Hmm…

Hope you all have a great weekend!
Erin

Ps. you can also check out last year’s basket for E for more ideas!

The weather in Ohio has been crazy so we’ve been exploring lots of indoor places!  First up was Cosi Science Museum!  She had a blast!  She could do way more than I thought she’d be able to!
img_2379
…and the sickness continues.  She had GI/flu issues all of December and into January and then a double ear infection/double pink eye.  Oh, and about five molars came in.  She still has a lingering runny nose and cough.  Thankfully, she is back to sleeping and eating regularly.
img_2495
She is obsessed with this car.  She makes car noises and points to the door almost every day.  Now she says car car.  Still waiting on her to say mama.  The girl has her priorities in language.
img_2494
Aunt Nennie came to visit and it was actually decent weather out–as in, not totally freeze your face off weather.
img_2804
E started Swim lessons and we have our 6th class tomorrow so there will be an update next week!
img_2900
E now knows where baby sister is and if you ask her, even in public, where her baby sister is, she will lift up my shirt and blow raspberries.  Kills me.
img_3047
I attended a super informative event on peanut butter allergies at Alchemy.  The event was put on by Crazy Richard’s Peanut Butter and they talked about the new recommendation about serving peanut butter to babies between the ages of 4-6 months to decrease the prevalence of peanut allergies.  They make a peanut butter powder that you can add to any baby foods!  Genius!  Way better option that just dishing up a spoonful which is what we did with E!
img_3171
Eleanor got her first pets!  She knows right where they are and gets so excited when we ask if she wants to go feed her fish!
img_3363
Oh. My. Gosh.  She points at the T.V. and asks for Bar.  Then she sits and demands crackers–which she can also say.  (so if you are keeping track, she can say baby, baba for milk, b for her pacifier, bar, car car, and cracker–no mama).  Priorities.
img_3532
We finally got her this table and chairs so she loves to sit and eat at the table.  A full post coming soon on toddler eating!
img_3550
Ah, sunshine.
img_3572
She finally got out and got her car cleaned.  It was really becoming an eye sore.
img_3603
We had a girl date at Piada and then snagged up some scoops at Jeni’s!
img_3738
When my dad was in town last week, in addition to getting the big stuff set up in E’s room (full posts on that coming soon!), we hit up our favorite Pistacia Vera and E got to try her first macaron!
img_3817
We then headed out to Franklin Park Conservatory because they were having a bring your American Girl Doll event!  The activity was a little old for her, but she loved being able to take her baby out on the town.  I just love watching her explore and take in the things around her!  And she was able to pick out a few things for her fairy garden this summer!
img_4003
And just like that we are almost in the home stretch!  I am 27 weeks with baby sister today and E has been super lovey dovey lately.  Especially about mommy, daddy, and babies.  She is ready to be a big sister!

And that’s about it for us!  What about you all?? What have you been up to?  Hope you are staying warm and well!

Have a great weekend!
Erin

Oh my gosh you guys!  Happy Friday!  This is a post I have been dying to share with you all.  E’s first swim lessons!  When Goldfish Swim School contacted me to set up some lessons for E, I literally could not say yes fast enough.  Anyone we talk to said to get her signed up ASAP, that the teachers and staff there were literally the kindest and most effective swim teachers out there.  Well, let me just tell you.  We put them to the test on her first swim lesson.  She wasn’t too thrilled at the idea of getting in a pool.  Hello, winter baby!  But, y’all, the instructor we had could not have been sweeter about it.  He said it was fairly normal and he even let her have the baby that he uses to demonstrate to parents what to do in order to keep her somewhat calm.

Ok, fast forward one week to swim lesson #2.  I sat behind the glass (no swimsuit for me!!!) and got to watch Matt take E for her swim lesson.  I literally think my heart exploded into a thousand pieces watching them.  Yes, I was that parent.  They had an absolute blast.  No tears at all and she was already gaining so much confidence in the water.

We go again tomorrow and the instructor said we are going to try to go under water this time!!  I will keep you posted on that one 🙂  There’s also a roundup of cute swimwear for your little fishy here!

To see if there is a Goldfish Swim School near you check out their website–you won’t regret getting them started early!

I hope you all have an excellent weekend!
Erin

Baby Essentials 6-12 months!

6-9 month, 9-12 month, baby, bathtime, diapering, eating, essentials, fun, gear, learning, Life, lifestyle, milestones, playing, sleeping

piccollage-3

Welllll hello, friends!  This is a post I have been meaning to write for awhile.  I’ve kind of grouped the 6-9 month and 9-12 month essentials because although there is a big gap in these ages, things got busy around here–Life Lately post coming soon!–so I’ve grouped them.  But I will do my best to kind of breakdown when she loved these things and when she kind of started phasing out of them.

Bathtime

  1.  We ended up switching from the infant tub to a Large storage tub that we got at a baby shower.  We felt silly at first, but honestly, only having to fill that (and she fits perfectly in it) makes bathtime quick and painless.  And it keeps her toys close so we don’t have to worry about her trying to walk or crawl in the tub to go get the toy she wants.  Win-win.
  2. We also got this cute little whale for over the faucet (which she now likes to play with) because I was getting too nervous she would bonk her head on the faucet when she kept trying to stand up!
  3. We still use Tubby Todd shampoo and Babyganics bubble bath.
  4. We’ve used a variety of bath specific toys, but also thrown some of her favorites that are ok getting wet in with her.
  5. We also still use this bath scoop and love it!

Diapering

  1. Other than diapering becoming a workout for us, not much has changed.
  2. We also still use and love this healing balm and diaper cream!

Play

  1. Buckets.  Lots and lots of buckets.  She loves to just take things in and out of them.  We have probably 50 buckets, bins, and other storage containers around the house.  For your sanity, make them cute.
  2. Books.  She LOVES this one because there are arf arfs (dogs) in them.  I love these books because they have all of the things she uses and sees everyday so it feels like we are super parents by reading it to her.  We take those moments when we can get ’em!
  3. Blankets.  Eleanor is obsessed with them.  In addition to Aden + Anais swaddles, Eleanor loves this blanket.  She literally cannot go from one room to the next without ALL of them.  We are gonna need more blankets for the next babe if she’s anything like Eleanor.  I have my eyes on this one!
  4. Babies.  Oh my.  It was her first word and we are honestly not sure at this point if she will learn any others.  First thing she does when she wakes up is say bay bay and look around for one of her seven babies.  We also now have to put them to bed when she goes to bed.  It’s cute.  Promise.
  5. While she doesn’t really use a walker anymore, it was key in the 6-9 month and a little beyond growth.  She started to stand and teeter around 8 months, but with the help of a walker and her determination, she was walking by 9 months.
  6. Recently, Eleanor has been super into our cell phones and really anything she sees us using.  I try to limit when I am on it around her, but at the end of the day, it’s how I take her picture, call people, tell time–really just unavoidable to keep out of her sight.  Plus, there are other people like her sitter who use them too.  It’s just a fact of life.  That being said, she wants it and for whatever reason, I have not seen any that really actually look like the cell phones that we have.  I did find this one that makes similar sounds and it does the trick.  Now she loves putting it in a purse I gave her to play with.  We are in trouble.  Big trouble.
  7. One last thing I thought I would throw on here are her clothes.  While they aren’t toys per se, she does love going and getting things off her clothing rack (and destroying everything else on there in the process) and bringing them to me to put on.  Socks, hair bows, shoes, her tutu, rain boots, sunglasses, etc…By the end of the day she is quite accessorized.  She’s trying really hard to put on her own clothes and it’s kind of the cutest ever.

Sleep

  1. We still use and love our sound machine and nursery heater.
  2. Eleanor only gets her pacifier when she’s sleeping, desperation in the car, or when things are rough (like right now she is getting 3 molars at once and still isn’t feeling well) she can have it a little more often.  We are hoping to phase it out by the time baby #2 arrives!  She is already pretty good about giving it up when we ask, but usually she just puts it away herself when she wakes up!

Eating

  1. We are off the bottles and on to sippy cups.  Eleanor likes these transitional sippy cups because they still have the soft top!  She also like to drink out of a straw…the hard top sippy cups, not so much.
  2. We still also use this Boon Drying Rack.  Still have no idea what people did before it was invented.
  3. We gave her this toothbrush as a replacement for the paci when she was awake and it actually worked pretty well!  And it served as a teether and it cleaned her teeth.  Done.  Now she is using a real toothbrush and is absolutely obsessed with brushing her teeth.
  4. For snacks, she loved these teethers, puffs, yogurt melts, and pouches!  Snacks were definitely something that started adding up so I really watched for sales at Target and Amazon…once you hit that 4 month mark, I would try to stock up if you see sales!!

I think those are pretty much our favorites in a nut shell!  It’s been a wild year and we have learned so much, but still are unsure of so many things.  With baby #2 on the way, we have been looking back and seeing what actually worked and didn’t and trying to assess how we want to attack the next round of parenting, but honestly every single baby is different and that’s what makes the journey so fun, learning and growing with your child.  Hopefully there are some things on this list (and here’s the 0-3 month and 3-6 months essentials) that hopefully you can use to help make the journey a little smoother 🙂

What are your must haves?  Anything you would add to this list??

Hope you all have a great day!
Erin
